The Tagert Hut is part of Colorado's first mountain hut system. It's nestled in the Elk Mountains outside of Aspen and is named after Billy Tagert, who was instrumental in hauling supplies to mining camps in the Elk Range. The hut is a destination for backcountry skiing and gives visitors great access to some remote 14ers. This is a vignette of a weekend spent there.
